A Very Lame Attempt at Changing the Subject

I've been trying all day to think of something to say, some way to change the subject, some way to make it all better. I have nothing. Every time the Toddler inaccurately uses the plural when referring to the dogs, every time she asks for "Ja-jine," every time I realize I just walked across a room without kicking a white furball who spent the vast majority of her life under my feet, and every time I sit down and nobody jumps into my lap, it's like a kick to the gut. A very not nice, many years premature kick to the gut.

But, thank you all very much for your comments. While they don't "fix" anything, it means a ton to know that y'all are so incredible. You really, really are and have proven it so many times.

So, thank you.

Hopefully tomorrow will suck less and I'll have something to write. Until then, the Toddler managed to provide me with a spectacular way to change the subject. I've been trying to catch this on video for a while, and while the quality is crappy and Dancing with the Stars had the audacity to distract the kid and make her cut the performance short, it's still freakin' hysterical.

I present 10 seconds of P!nk's So What, as sung by Miss Alexis:

She has the makings of a ... um ... rock star? Good lord - you should hope not. I can't see Alexis with multiple piercings and tattoos. Pink hair maybe.

I know going to Target and buying a mop to hold in your lap won't be the same. Love on Meg some. Hold the toddler more. Giant hugs to you all.

I loves you. And, your kiddo is better than Belinda. (I cannot, in good faith, say Debbie)

I'm pretty sure you've got a rock star on your hands there.

Hang in there friend.

Yes, a good attempt. I'd say that was pretty good for the soul too. Steady On...

Each day will suck less. And changing the subject will be easier. Your rock star will always remember her Ja-jine, but soon it will be fondly. Hugs again to you and your little distraction :-)

Hahaha!!! Oh my! She is just so cute!!!

I'm sorry you are having such a rough day. I know that loss is a hard one to deal with. :(

That made me smile and when your molar is throbbing like someone is jack-hammering your skull, that's impressive.

Hope your hearts are healing well over there.

Oh, I love her!!

I'm sorry things are rotten. Wish I had a great subject to change things to for you, but it looks like Little Miss Better Than Pink is doing just fine.

so cute, she could just make most things better... I am so sorry to hear about the sadness though. I've been gone from the blogging world for a few days... :(

I'm still sorry, and there are still no words. But thank goodness for Alexis. Sometimes it would be easier to be as resilient as kids.

I'm just catching up with my blogs and only just now read about your sweet dog.
I'm so sorry. It's not "as if" you lost a member of your immediate family - you DID. And it hurts. I'm just so sorry.

I didn't get a chance to comment yesterday, but I'm really sorry about your dog - it sounds like she was really loved and had a great life in the Burgh!

You know I get how you feel. You know I get the sadness and the feeling of loss. You also know I wish I could change it.

Hello! I came across your blog by accident while googling toddler activites, ha ha! But had to say that your daughter is beautiful!

My name is Chris, I have a two year old son, and wow, do they grow up fast! After looking at your blog I thought you might be interested in checking out a pregnancy/mommy board I am a part of, www.mommachat.com . I know us moms have a lot of questions, and its so nice to talk to other moms that are going through the same thing you are! Support is a big thing! I hope you check it out, and I look forward to chatting with you!

I am so sorry about your little puppy! She was a doll!

And isn't it wonderful how toddlers can always "change the subject" and make some of the tougher things in life just a little less painful.

THE SONG SIMPLY SAYS "THE SUN WILL COME OUT TOMORROW. IT'S ONLY A DAY AWAY. NOW YOU MAY HAVE TO GO THRU MANY TOMORROWS TO FEEL THE SUN SHINE BUT I PROMISE TAKE IT ONE DAY AT A TIME AND THE HURT WILL BE LESS EACH PASSING DAY AND YOU WILL START TO FILL YOUR HEART AND SOUL WITH ALL OF HER PRECIOUS MEMORIES. UNTIL THAT DAY KEEP ON LOVING ALEXIS AND KEEP ON BEING THE GOOD MOMMIE YOU ARE! LOVE YOUR SECOND MOM

Very, very late on commenting here, but very sorry about your pup. I wish I could say more. I know how we would feel if we lost ours and there are somedays I worry we will. he is a crazy mutt. I'm very sorry, though, I wish you had more answers as to why.
