You would think that getting to go to your first Penguins game would be a pretty solid way to live your best life. And if said Penguin game involved picking out a donut and other favorite things would make it EVEN BETTER OMG.

You'd be right, of course. Mila did live her best life on Saturday. But she didn't live it until she suffered through the worst thing ever.

EVER EVER.

Alexis is a busy kid. She has friends and a life and all of that. Thus, sometimes she has sleepovers and they're separate from the things that Mila does. Saturday was one of those separate days. Alexis had a birthday party to go to followed by a sleepover and all of the things. Lots of things. So, on our way to the Penguin game, Mila and I dropped Alexis off at her friend's house.

Or at least I tried to drop her off.

As I pulled up to the friend's house, Mila caught sight of the backpack. She noticed the backpack that was a sure sign of a sleepover and she FREAKED THE FREAK OUT. "Nooooooo! Lexi has to go home!" she screeched.

"I'm going to a birthday party," Alexis replied. She did her best to sooth the beast, but the beast was MAD.

"YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED. GO HOME NOW!" Mila insisted. She then burst into tears, clutched Alexis' hand, and poured her entire being into guilting her big sister into staying in the car.

It totally didn't work.

As we pulled away from the friend's house, Mila continued carrying on. She insisted over and over that Alexis was "not allowed" to sleep over and that she needed to "go to time out RIGHT NOW" and wow. Mila knows a lot of words associated with being in trouble. I wonder why?

I soothed the beast with a donut and a Penguins win, which temporarily worked, but as the evening turned into night, a certain sleepy preschooler remembered that she was mad. She fell asleep still sad that her Alexis was spending time away from home. There were actual tears as she drifted off to sleep.

We've got seven years to figure this whole thing out. In seven years, Alexis will move out and Mila is going to be ALL OF THE SAD OMG. We've got seven years to figure out how to make it something other than the worst day of her life.
