Don't Say It Unless You Mean It

If you ask the fifth grader if she wants to go to a playground, she will absolutely glare at you, make a miserable face, and say "NOOOOOOOO." She's too cool for slides and swings and stuff.

Which, fine.

I am perfectly happy to take the Tiny Human to the playground and enjoy her all by myself. She is an absolute delight when it comes to slides and swings and such, except for the little issue she has with climbing things. She climbs all of the things and it freaks me the heck out. Though, after watching a woman fly across the playground to "save" her 4 or 5-year old from certain death as he climbed a ladder Mila had just climbed, maybe I hide it well? Better than that, at least. Mila certainly doesn't know that I haaaaaaate it when she climbs giant things.

If she knew, she'd do more to give me all of the grey hairs. She thinks it's funny when I freak out.

ANYWAY. Alexis is too cool for the playground while Mila thinks they're all that. Fine. Divide and conquer.

Except, sometimes Alexis finds out that she missed a trip to the playground and suddenly she has to admit that "it's okay if we go, I guess" and blah, blah, blah.

Tell me again how lame the playground is, kid.
