Brew. At the Zoo. Wooo!

For the first time ever, I have tickets to Brew at the Zoo.

And I'm sharing.

It's happening Saturday, August 21 from 7:00pm to 11:00pm at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium. If you haven't heard of Brew at the Zoo, it is exactly what it sounds like--beer at the zoo. Over 50 brewers will be there handing out samples right next to the zoo residents.

"I'm going to catch me one of those drunk humans, Martha. THIS IS THE YEAR!"

Tickets are $50 for beer tasters, $25 for designated drivers, and VIP tickets are available for $75. Proceeds benefit the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation. If you have heard of or been affected Mitochondrial Disease, then you know it's an ugly bitch and that the UMDF does some amazing work.If you haven't heard of or been affected by it, you should probably hug everybody in your life because, well, it's an ugly bitch.

Tickets for Brew at the Zoo always sell out before the event, so if you want to go, you should probably head right over and buy them.

I would first hang out with the Kangaroos and have a drink with them and ask what's really up with their pouch. Then I would hang out with the Meerkats and ask why there is so many of them when there was only on in the Lion King. Then I would chill with the penguins, just because I may or may not have a silly band in the shape of a penguin and ask if their getting royalties for their likeness.

More than likely the usual yinz team folk all though I know our community has grown bigger and I'd love the chance to meet new tweeps. Not to mention I would love this to be my first charity event. Also more than likely I'd be the one to push said drunk dude in with Mustafa. Before toddling off to the polar bears and mock them with my delicious beer while all they have is there stupid Coke.

Okay, so we go to the zoo with our kids and it's great and all but we would love to go to the zoo in the evening when there are no kids with us and we can enjoy the animals and some beer tasting. I mean, really, could it get any better?!

Oh my, we totally totally wanted to go to this event this year because we love the zoo and well, we love beers. However, due to the fact that our wedding is next month we are- point blank- broke. As much as we would LOVE to sip lagers with lions and ales with antelopes (porters with penguins? I'll stop now...), that $100 for tickets will most likely go to some insanely overpriced wedding details like the tip for the church janitor. So... fingers crossed!

I would definitely take my boyfriend as a last fun hurrah! before he heads back into the graduate school schedule. We live in a tight, tight budget thanks to graduate school. loans and the non-profit salary. Seriously, I'm a librarian who basically makes pennies (but I love my job) so winning these would be the best surprise! He would be beyond ecstatic if we won.

But once I'm at the Zoo Brew I am totally hanging out at the rhinos. They'd love to throw back a few beers, but I'd be sure they didn't drink too many, they're probably a problem if they have more than a few. My boyfriend? My bet is that he hangs with the penguins or polar bears...they're lovable.

I think the only animals that I would avoid with frosty beverages are the monkeys. Any kind. They would be shifty, eye you up and steal those tasty beers right from your hand. Drink a few and then dump the rest all over your head.
