I'm Drinking a Pumpkin Spice Latte, So Summer Must Be Over

I don't know who is responsible for it, but somehow the calendar has turned a page. September. IT'S SEPTEMBER! How is that even possible? I guess that means I can't argue that it's still summer. It most certainly is not. September!
Looking back over the summer, it's tough to pick out the highlights. There were quite a few of them. From our day at Kennywood to afternoons at the zoo, from exploring the Arts Festival to hanging out at Pirates games, it has generally been a good summer. And this, this will be the summer that Alexis spent getting wet.
More than any other year in her life, Alexis found her way to pool after pool, sprinkler after sprinkler, and fountain after fountain. It seems nearly every photo I've taken of her in the past three months somehow involves water.

And that's EXACTLY the way she wanted it.
I'm not looking forward to tearing down the pool in our back yard. I know that will be the absolute final act of summer. I'd like to pretend for just a few more weeks, so here's to hoping Mother Nature will comply.
What about you? What was the highlight or theme of your summer? Tell me and you could win a $100 Visa Gift Card, courtesy of the Mom's Breakfast Club. Official rules for the giveaway can be found over here, and you can find additional opportunities to win over there.

The highlight of our summer was our trip to Myrtle Beach.
One of the highlights of my summer was taking our kids to a Giant's baseball game in San Francisco. We all had a great time!
The hightlight of my summer was kayaking among the migrating shorebirds in Cape Breton. They didn't mind my presence at all. I was able to sit quietly among them when my boat beached on their sandbar and get lots of beautiful photographs. ~karen
The best parts of my summer have been crazy Saturday nights spent with my friends and a few yummy Blue Moons.
I had 2 things that were memorable this summer. My daughter participated in her first triathalon and I went with her. It was a wonderful weekend in Traverse City with my oh so grown up (22yo) daughter. The second thing was a few days away with my hubby in the heart of Amish country (Berlin Ohio) just the 2 of us. Great giveaway!

I was able to enjoy the great weather with my 9 month old twin girls! WE found out they LOVE the water and spent as much time as possible in the pool and the lake! They looked adorable in their matching swimsuits and floaties..I could not ask for a better summer as a first time mom!
The highlight was taking the kids to our first ever visit to Carolina beach and we loved it, but nothing compares to our experiences at Myrtle beach, but it was close

living on my own for the first time, trying to get my apartment together and pay my very first bills and remember to feed myself and so on!
A visit from family back East, and sunny weather the whole five days they were here! (I think it's the only stretch of five sunny days in a row we had all summer.)
One particularly fun memory was this weekend with the girls at the state fair. I gave my niece my camera and let her take all the pictures that she wanted. I ended up with pictures of every single rabbit, chicken, and baby goat at the fair.
This is in addition to all the backyard fun, parties, sleepovers, camping, etc....
The highlight of my summer is ALWAYS family beach trip to North Carolina.
We took a beautiful trip to the Oregon coast this year and went to lots of parks and the zoo!
The highlight of our summer happened over the weekend, but since it was technically BEFORE Labor Day, I'm counting it! We went to Stumphouse Tunnell and Issaqueena Falls in Walhalla, SC and we made it through the day without any whining (by us or the kids) or any yelling (by us or the kids)! It was a really great day!
Completely unrelated but WHY do they bring out the pumpkin spice in September but make me wait until NOVEMBER for gingerbread latte! They both scream fall in my opinion!
Wow, I can't think of one highlight - there were so many fun things. Dylan wrote a Summer To Do List at the beginning of June, and we crossed off everything on his list.
Water. Jet skiing, boating, kayaking, river wading. The kid has finally gotten over his fear of water. Look out!
One of my best girlfriends got married in Milwaukee and I flew there with a bunch of friends to celebrate. It was just 48 hours away from home, but so much fun to hang out. Not very summery, but it was one of the highlights of mine. :)
Our highlight was spending the week on the lake in grandma and grandpa's cabin.

the highlight of my summer was giving birth to a baby boy!
I went to two great concerts this summer! I saw Kings of Leon and Something Corporate, both for the second time.
The highlight of my summer was having my College Kid home, even if only for a few months.
How funny! I just wrote about this at my blog too. Summer is gone. It has been a GREAT summer. So many good memories. The zoo, the fair, swimming. Good times. :)
I loved taking my baby on walks. Also, hiking and camping, basically just being outside and enjoying the nice weather.

We all went to Kentucky, North Carolina, Colorado and Washington. It was the great camp out of summer 2010. Sooooo fun!!!
The highlight of my summer? GRADUATING. Clearly.
I enjoyed the Mama-Daughter days I spent with my tween scrapbooking and talking about anything and everthing!

The highlight of my summer was the whole thing - I quit my job and finally was able to spend the time I wanted to with my kiddos
Wine and mountains - our two vacations!
The highlight was a spur of the moment trip to Philly to hang out with my old college friends! I finally got some relaxation at the end of the summer :)
The highlight of my summer was our first family trip ... A fourteen hour drive to Florida with a 9-month-old! Surprisingly, our little guy is extremely agreeable so it wasn't nearly as terrible a drive as it could have been! Thank God for small miracles! ;)
Summer's at my job are harder than any other time of the year. It's when we have a chance to tackle HUGE projects. I'm glad that fall is here! I'm pooped, and now ready for MY vacation!
The highlight of my summer was our trip to the Gulf Coast of Florida. My husband and I shared a condo with my parents and had a ball. I also got to see a girlfriend of mine who I haven't hung out with in person in a very long time. It was a great way to relax and enjoy friends and family.
The highlight of my summer was our first family vacation to Ocean City, MD.
Swimming, library visits, watching movies, hanging out
I live in Michigan now, and when I come home to Pittsburgh, I am usually busy visiting family. But this summer when I came to town, I did some touristy stuff, like went to Station Square, and took my kids on their first ride on the Incline. I got that famous photo I've been wanting of the boys on top of Mount Washington. That was the highlight of my summer.
Getting married was definitely the highlight of my summer!
I loved staying up late with my teen kids and then sleeping in late!
We had such a busy year....the summer was glorious!
Can't wait for next years! :)
our summer highlight is always the food, summer berries and melons are so tasty, we made lots of parfaits with them.

The highlight of my summer was getting to pop over to Washington State where my kids were on Vacation with their dad, and visit with them. As well as Isabella's first trip to the West Coast to meet my Nana, dad, and my sister.
The highlight of my summer was going to a family wedding where we saw relatives from the West Coast that we hadn't seen in years

My favorite moment was taking our daughter and son to the new city pool and watching our daughter develop a love of the water. She started out a bit timid at first, but after a few times, she was swimming under water.

This summer I got to take my boys to my parents summer house for the weekend and we had a ton of fun. We went blueberry picking, fishing, boating and swimming. It was great time to spend with my both my kids and my parents.

This was the summer of conversations with our little boy. He put off talking for a while and then this spring and summer he exploded with chatter and observation of his world, especially the outdoors. It was wonderful to finally really see the world through his eyes.
The most memorable event of our summer was going to China to pick up our daughter and bring her home forever!
