This is What Winning Looks Like

(For what it's worth, that's not a horse in the background of the middle photo. It's one of the neighborhood dogs. But, yes, his head is bigger than Mila's entire body.)

In Search of Balance and a Few Good Hair Days

When you’ve had one baby, you think you know all of the apparently top-secret things that happen after a new little person comes into your life. I say “top-secret” because everybody talks about the lack of sleep and around-the-clock feedings, but they fail to mention a few things. For example, I found out about the sexy mesh underwear after Alexis was born. I had no idea up until then.

So when Mila was born, I thought I knew what came next.

Go ahead. Laugh at me. I KNOW.

It took me a while to figure out that this time was different. I should have seen it, but I was busy figuring out how to survive in this fantastic new world of two kids, so I didn't. Months went by and I didn't catch on that pregnancy gives you great hair. After, though? OH.

I didn’t notice it with Alexis. While I did know people who had talked about their hair not seeming as great after pregnancy, it just didn’t occur to me that I could experience the same thing. But it wasn’t just a “post-pregnancy” thing, I was compounding the issue because of my lack of… well… I wasn’t exactly being a healthy human being at the time.

After Mila was born, I had 70 pounds to lose. I had lots of chaos with trying to figure out how to balance two kids who were in dramatically different places in life. And, on top of it all, I had lots of stuff happening at work. It’s possible that I was basically living off of caffeine.

Whoops.

I’m still working to establish a more balanced lifestyle. I’m doing better with eating balanced and juggling time. Another thing I have done to sort of build the foundation for getting it together is to start taking vitafusion™ Hair, Skin & Nails Supplement.

It’s easier to have shiny, happy, healthy hair if you’re getting the vitamins and minerals necessary to support healthy hair.* I’ve tried this route before but this time I might actually be able to keep it up because vitafusion™ products taste good and don’t require water. Convenience is my best friend. And so are these two crazy little people.

Fear the Grass

I'm in no hurry whatsoever for Mila to start legit talking. I already have a creature whose mouth leaks words 24/7, so the tiny one can take her time. That said, I wouldn't mind hearing her thoughts for a few minutes. Like, maybe three minutes. Given the choice, I'd pick the three minutes from earlier this evening when Mila was in the yard.

I mean that literally. She was literally just sitting in the yard. I was desperate to pull some weeds in the garden, so I grabbed the Mila Monster and headed outside. I opted to set her down the grass a second so that I could grab a carrier or something for her, but then nothing happened.

For real.

Nothing.

The kid wouldn't let her right foot touch the grass, nor her hands, but she also wasn't upset to have been left in the middle of the yard. She very happily sat there, carefully balanced on her butt while cooing and giggling and generally entertaining herself.

I don't get it. I'm not dumb enough to test fate, though. If a baby wants to sit and be happy, Imma let that baby sit and be happy.

But I still want to know what she was thinking.

I'm relatively sure she wasn't judging me for my actions. I wasn't just pulling weeds, by the way. I was also planting the tulip and daffodil bulbs that I somehow never planted last fall. WHOOPS.

I'm also sure she wasn't judging my ill-fitting jeans, dirty t-shirt, or super not cute shoes.

She also wasn't judging the fact that the garden weeding is about 12 months too late.

She was just sitting in the grass, happily cooing as she watched my every move.

Babies make the best audiences.
