$12, But Worth a $1 Million

I had very few goals in mind when we left for Disney:

  1. Try a Dole Whip for the first time ever. (BTW, my verdict is that funnel cakes > Dole Whip)
  2. Consume at least two funnel cakes. (Mission accomplished!)
  3. Check out Tom Sawyer Island for the first time. (Done.)
  4. Ride Tower of Terror at least twice. (Did it.)
  5. Leave without a single stuffed animal.

I'm not entirely sure if I succeeded on that last one. It depends on whether or not you consider Jasmine a stuffed animal:

(Only in Orlando does hotel housekeeping make sure that a Jasmine doll is perfectly placed on the made bed.)

We buy very few souvenirs, regardless of where we go. In fact, Alexis knows that she will get to pick one thing and one thing only.  She carefully weighs her options, deliberating for a day or two before making a final decision. This year, it was Jasmine all the way. You gotta love a kid who picks out one of the cheapest things in the store, especially when it's a store that accepts the magical 20% coupons we had shoved in our pockets. (I kinda hate the giant rat for handing out 20% off coupons this year. He might as well hold a gun to my head and demand that I buy more stuff. Same result.)

Anyway, Alexis has slept with Princess Jasmine every night since she got her and has drug her pretty much everywhere. And I do mean everywhere.

She went on rides.

Multiple rides.

She visited Minnie's house, joining me in getting annoyed that Minnie doesn't have a bedroom.

And she made sure nobody wandered too far.

She's far too useful to be considered a stuffed animal, right? Right.

That most certainly does not qualify for a stuffed animal. Clearly it's in the doll/action figure category. And you did MUCH better with the 20% off coupon that we did. Congrats.

Where did you get these 20% coupons?! My family is going to Disney in June and those would be amazing!

Bargain!

How cute! I still have the red, white and blue angel that housekeeping made for us out of washcloths while we were there during our honeymoon (less than a month after 9/11).

My kids don't even know that sourvenirs are an option. Last time we were at Disney I got away with buying two $6 Mickey light sabers. Next time I'm sure things will be different because they'll be older. I like the one-thing rule. I'll probably use it.

Dude - Dole Whip > funnel cake. The end.

I have my family give my kids Disney Dollars for holiday gifts on the years we take a trip, so they know exactly how much they have to spend and no more. lat year, Em discovered the best deal in WDW - the Little Pony box at Once Upon a Toy. for about $20, you can get all you can shove into the box, as long as it will close. And believe me - you can get a LOT in that box.

Next year, Minnie won't even have a house, given the big refurb.

@Lauren--The 20% off coupons randomly show up at the bottom of some Disney park receipts. We kept getting them when we bought food. There are a bunch of restrictions (only good at certain stores in each park and only before 12 noon), but still. TOTALLY worth the effort. We do one big shopping trip at World of Disney, anyway, so we just made sure to do it within the guidelines.

That last photo is just about perfect.

Love that last picture!
Yes, I think Princess Jasmine was a very good investment indeed:)

Jasmine is definitely a doll not a stuffed animal. We can't wait to take Abby there. Maybe in a year or 2 after Zach has gotten bigger and Abby a little older. We went there for our honeymoon and have been talking about going back ever since.

Stuffed animals sit on shelves and in toyboxes and collect dust. A doll that goes everywhere is most definitely not a stuffed animal! (Which is the exact justification I use when I go through my kids' rooms and 'par down' the zoo twice a year.)

that last photo is priceless.
unless you wanted to have a booth at the arts festival, because then you could charge at least $20 for it.

Jasmine kicks ass. So, no...she's not a stuffed animal.

:)

Agreed. She's a doll. Nothing wrong with that in the slightest.

Love the last picture!

Oh, that's a stuffed animal that is acceptable. We have similar Buzz and Woody dolls.

I love it. :)

That last pic alone is worth the $12. Priceless.
