Whatchamacallit Eggs

I'm not entirely sure why the universe fails to properly recognize this fact, but Whatchamacallits are the best candy bar. Ever. EVER. Chocolate, peanut butter, Rice Krispies, and caramel. I mean, WHAT? That's perfection right there.

And that's the short story that explains why lately I've been messing around with the concept of a Whatchamacallit in basically every form imaginable. I'm sure some of those things will make it here, but first, Whatchamacallit Eggs!

I know Easter is already over, but that's dumb. Let's just keep celebrating Easter for a few more weeks, please? April needs to have something fun it it.

Like, Whatchamacallit Eggs.

Whatchamacallit Eggs

1/4 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup powdered sugar
1 1/2 cup Rice Krispies
Rolos
1 1/2 cup melting chocolate
Sprinkles (optional)

1. Using a mixer, combine the butter and peanut butter until creamy. Then add in the vanilla and mix some more.

2. Slowly add the powdered sugar.

3. Stir in the Rice Krispies, or use your hands to mush them in. Just don't use the mixer because it won't work well and you'll end up with a mess.

4. Rolo time! Unwrap them. I got about 24 eggs out of this recipe, but you may get more or less depending on how big you make the eggs.

5. Take a little scoop of peanut butter stuff and make a little ball. It should be about 3/4" across. Once you have your little ball, smoosh it flat and stick a Rolo on top of it.

6. Now fold the sides of the peanut butter up over the Rolo.

7. Mush and shape the peanut butter around the Rolo until you have a little egg. Repeat all that until you run out of peanut butter stuff.

8. Refrigerate the eggs.

9. Melt the chocolate. I prefer to use these melting wafers and a little crock pot, but you do what you like.

10. Dip time! Dip the eggs in the melted chocolate then place them on wax paper to allow the chocolate to set.

11. If you'd like, decorate the eggs with sprinkles.

12. See how many you can eat in one sitting. It's a contest. GO!

The Magic That is Stripes

Before I admit to this, I want to remind you that I have already confessed to being a giant dork dozens and dozens of times. If I were one of those bloggers who had a “brand,” it would be built around my very high level of dorkdom.

Now that we have that out of the way, do you remember the first time you squeezed a little Aquafresh® toothpaste out of the tube? I DO! BECAUSE! IT! WAS! SO! COOL! STRIPES!

I’m not joking or exaggerating. I was probably a little younger than Alexis the first time I laid hands on a tube of Aquafresh® toothpaste. I pulled out my boring blue toothbrush, squeezed a little toothpaste, and was completely in awe. My toothbrush wasn’t boring anymore! IT HAD STRIPES! Even more amazing to my young mind, the stripes were the same size. I tried and I tried to squeeze the tube in a way that would make only one color come out, but it couldn’t be done. The stripes were uniform no matter what.

So cool.

It was probably a year ago that I was putting my Aquafresh® toothpaste on my toothbrush when Alexis showed up. The long of the short was that she was jealous because she noticed for the first time that my toothpaste was cooler than her little kid toothpaste. She had always selected her toothpaste by looking at the cartoon character on the package. It hadn’t dawned on her that sometimes the real fun is inside the tube.

With that revelation out of the way, a tradition was born.

This year will be the second year that I’ve stuck a tube of Aquafresh® toothpaste into Alexis’ Easter basket. It makes sense, after all, to pile up a bunch of sugary treats and accompany it with some cavity fighting magic. Balance, man. Life is all about balance.

The super fun thing is that I’m guessing this year will be much like last year. Last year Alexis ate maybe two handfuls of her Easter candy, but was SO EXCITED about her Aquafresh® toothpaste. I maybe helped pile on some of the excitement because I bet her she couldn’t make just one color come out of the tube. We won’t talk about how much toothpaste ended up on the bathroom counter before she realized it can’t be done. ::cough::

This year there will not be shenanigans with the stripes, but I have two little tricks up my sleeve. First of all, this year I’ll be including Aquafresh® Multi-Action Whitening, which is coming just in time to address Alexis’ newfound interest in having white teeth. The second trick is that this year I’m going to tell Alexis about the awesomeness that is the three degrees of separation between us and the guy who patented the stripe magic. I recently learned that a good friend of ours went to school with the patent guy’s son and HOW COOL IS THAT? (Reminder: You are in the dork zone.) Our friend sat next to the son of the guy who made the stripe magic! SO COOL!

Even if you’re not, Alexis will be impressed. So there.

While she’s impressed, she’ll also benefit from cavity protection, healthy gums*, pure fresh breath, great taste, whitening, and enamel strengthening. You can make fun of our dork levels, but at least we dork with healthy teeth.

How do you keep your children’s teeth healthy?
