I Pink Puffy Heart You, Target
While I've all but quit doing review-type stuff (because REASONS), I still have a giant pile of valuable experiences from some of the things I've seen and done in the past. The time I went to Harley-Davidson's headquarters and learned to drive a motorcycle certainly ranks high on the memorable list, but probably not for the reasons you'd think. One of the things we did while there was talk to their marketing person. She had a lot to say about marketing to women, including that she didn't believe in "shrink and pink."
Think about it. Half the world thinks that if they want to market to women, all they have to do is shrink and pink stuff. Hello, NFL with your tiny jerseys that are mysteriously pink instead of the team's colors.
The concept stuck with me, especially because that was right around when Alexis was still letting me have a little bit of a say in her wardrobe. Do you know how hard it was to find stuff that wasn't pink back then? SO HARD. Everything was pink then.
Not any more!

Got it?
This isn't sponsored. This is legit OMG YOU GUYSSSS! TARGET!!!!
I don't know who grew a clue at Target, but I'm so glad they did. Suddenly, the toddler girl department is full of awesomeness.
It's a shark shirt! For girls! And it's not pink! And the sharks don't have ridiculous little tutus and bows!
Where once there wouldn't be a chance in hell that Mila could get anything Cars unless we crossed to the boys clothes, suddenly there are lots and lots of choices. She is on a dress kick right now (there was tackling involved to get her to wear those pink pants and t-shirt) and LOOK! IT'S NOT A KITTY DRESS! HOORAY!
But there were other choices. She could have even gone for just a touch of pink while still getting something Cars for a girl.
So, thanks Target for finally figuring out that sometimes girls like Cars, not everything you shrink also has to be pink, and space is awesome no matter what gender you are.

I am already obsessed with Target and now I love them even more ! And can I just say I would totally rock that Wonder woman or shark shirt if it came in my size. So so happy to see the change, when my teen was younger we regularly shopped the boys section because she hated pink and wanted cool shirts that featured space, sharks and science . Great to see Target is listening and paying attention.
Yes! Yes! A thousand times Yes!
