Scratching the Itch

This past weekend was the last of the COMPLETE CHAOS weekends, which is to say this coming weekend only has 235246 things planned. The weekend after is practically empty (HUZZAH!) so we really are getting somewhere. We may survive the end of the school year rush!

One of the many events was Mila's first dance recital. It happened to take place at the exact same time as Alexis' cheer competition, so that was swell. I've never missed a major Alexis event before, but this time I had no choice. She did really well without me (first place! zero deductions!), so that's something.

Mila did really well with me.

I felt bad that she didn't have her own personal cheering section, but at least one of us was there to see her tiny little self tap her way across the stage. She did it with a giant smile on her face the whole time. And, in what can only be described as OMGSOCONFUSING, she actually knew her whole dance. When did she pay attention enough to learn it? I HAVE NO IDEA. But she did.

Afterwards, she reported that she loved every second of the recital and yes, please, she would definitely like to dance again next year.

I have feelings about that. I mean, I already live at the studio. I guess I might as well have two kids there. But, you know, THERE ARE OTHER ACTIVITIES, MILA. SOME OF THEM ARE FUN. AND LESS EXPENSIVE THAN DANCE.

We shall see. Mila isn't nearly as single-minded as Alexis was at that age. The only reason Alexis ever tried any other sports besides dance and cheer was because I was insistent that she try things. Track seems to be sticking, so that insisting got me somewhere, but it has always been a bit of a battle. Alexis was born to dance. The end.

Anyway.

Mila loved dancing on the stage with a huge audience. She even more so loved getting her own bouquet of flowers after the show.

What she didn't love, though, was the costume.

I mean, she thought she was pretty. She also thought she was pretty itchy. After agreeing that we should go take fancy pictures while she was dressed up and happily participating for a few minutes, Mila decided she would be better off being naked.

She decided that while standing in a garden at Phipps.

You're welcome, everyone who got a free show. And sorry? I guess?
