Sometimes Jungle Gyms Need to Be #SavedBySkimmies

What's fair is fair, so I granted Alexis' wish to play at the playground after an impromptu photo shoot with both of the girls. The second I said "yes," Alexis ran for the open field and began to do cartwheels and back handsprings.

Mila isn't quite as good at self-entertaining. There wasn't a swing near enough for me to push the Tiny Human while monitoring the Big Kid, so I decided to set the little one in the grass for a moment while I tried to figure out an alternate plan for entertaining her. It took Miss Mila less than a second to determine that the best plan was for her to go up. I morphed into a jungle gym as she grabbed my leg and pulled herself to a stand. Then she ducked her little head under my skirt so she could get a better grip on my leg. And then. THEN.

Then she did a little number that could best be referred to as jazz hands.

Dear Sir who saw far more than he wanted to see -- I'm sorry. At least my underwear were clean, though! We've got that much going for us all!

(Whoops.)

The best part of the whole little fiasco was that Mila thought it was HILARIOUS. From that day forward, she has sought out opportunities to be the wind beneath my skirt. Whether I'm wearing a long maxi dress or a knee-length skirt, she is there to lift it up and out and do what she can to flip it over my head.

So that's fun.

The best thing that has come of The Skirt Situation is that I have discovered Jockey® Skimmies® Slipshort. They're essentially a super lightweight slipshort that covers up all of the things that Mila keeps trying to show off. They also help keep skirts flowy while minimizing the joy that is underwear lines. They're basically little shorts that can't be detected unless Mila decides to show them to the world.

Which she does.

Often.

They're a super thin layer of protection, not a tight spandex-type thing. Which is good, by the way. If I ever want to squeeze a few pounds away through the use of undergarments, I'll go a different direction. These are more comfortable. No deception, no super warm layers, strictly coverage. They're just right, really.

It's a good thing I've been Saved by Skimmies because I'm relatively certain Mila isn't going to stop using me as a jungle gym any time soon. How would you like to be #SavedbySkimmies? Answer in the comments for a chance to win a $100 Jockey.com gift card.

Dude. Our Little One is six (6!) and she still manages to flip my skirt up during Mass almost every week. I say "almost" because sometimes I wear pants. ;) So, they're comfy? And, why haven't I heard about them before? Are they new? I know, too many questions...

Fantastic! My daughter also thinks its a hilarious game to flip the skit! I'm going to have to try these. I've tried jockey boy shorts, but the cotton material makes the dress fabric cling to the shorts.

Ohhhh....something other than a traditional slip (which most of the times is too long for my summer dresses) but not spanx, which I find hot and irritating. It's like the PERFECT solution to what I have been looking for to wear under my summer dresses & skirts. Thanks for sharing!

My daughter always wears cartwheel shorts from the children's place under her dresses because she's 6 and not always very good at remembering to sit in a lady like fashion. I was just saying to my husband the other day that someone needs to make something like cartwheel shorts for adults, not because I don't know how to sit like a lady but because sometimes when your wrangling multiple kids this like little ones flipping you skirt or dress up happen. These sound like the perfect solution. I wish they weren't so pricey though.

These look super comfortable! Thanks for sharing!

Between my 2 year old son, my 1 year old daughter, my 7 year old's sporting event and being a teacher these sound like a pretty indispensable product that I need to have in my closet! Too bad they're out of my price range. Thanks for sharing!

OH MY GOSH! Who knew there was an alternative to spanx and chafing! THE CHAFING of my thunder thighs in summer. I NEED THESE

June 10, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterAimee

OMG - I never knew there was such a thing. I need to get some of these! Because "thigh fire" HAHAHA

June 10, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterGina

i refuse to buy those other things because they seem too tight, but i am fairly certain that I NEED THESE IN MY LIFE! i would wear skirts, maxi and otherwise, all the time! thanks for the education! if only i had a pair to wear tonight to the theater...

June 10, 2015 | Unregistered Commenterhello haha narf

I would love to be #SavedbySkimmies! I like to hang out in the front yard when it is warm, but even when I wear a sundress to stay cool I inevitably end up trying to weed my flower garden (a compulsion of mine). This means bending over. Usually in a breeze. You see the problem. ;-)

I need these! Totally gonna try to find them near me. Working with small children, I need to be able to get on the floor and play! More realistically, I also trip a lot, and would rather not flash people when I fall down. I was wearing bike shorts but I'm down to one pair that fits. So that means I can wear a skirt or dress once every wash cycle, which isn't gonna cut it this summer.

June 10, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterMolly

I need these for riding my bike! I also have a toddler who thinks skirts and the flipping of/pulling down of said items is hilarious.

June 10, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterMelissa

This is just the thing we need in my office. I've noticed that this year's trend seems to be skirts that are just a bit too short.

This is an awesome product! My teenaged daughter's dresses are way too short. This is perfect for underneath! I didn't know they existed.

I would appreciate being saved by skimmies when the breeze lifts my skirt.

What a great alternative to wearing a slip, which I agree with Heather are usually too long for my summer frocks. Also, chasing after an almost 1 year old usually leads to many not so lady like moments that the world wishes they didn't have to see!

Always on the lookout for comfortable wear for under my skirts, especially when the Hellgate Canyon winds pick up on my walk across campus. :-)

I'd like to be Saved By Skimmies this summer when my hubby and I go out on date nights. I think the Jockey Skimmies Short Length Wicking Slipshort would keep sweat from bothering me so much on hot nights.

July 22, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterAdrienne Gordon

Great product! I hate windy days. I always worry that my skirt will fly up. lol!

July 22, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterKimmy Ripley

I'd wear these "slip shorts" to help me with summer chub-rub, because hey, girls with nontrivial thighs like to wear skirts in the heat, too. I'd wear these under slips (and skirts, of course) to keep my thighs from sticking together on a hot day. I've tried just about everything - shorts purchased at a big-box store, workout compression tights, regular tights, slip culottes - basically anything I could think of that I thought wouldn't show and would protect me from chafing.

I need these because I hate going out in dresses on windy days, because it always catches my skirt and shows everything to the world. These would be super useful!

oh, love this idea! Need to try. I hate my skin touching so this is perfect!
